Golden hour at Muriwai Beach

I can’t even explain how much I love shooting on the West Coast. We are completely spoiled for shooting locations in Auckland but there is nothing as dramatic as black volcanic rock, black sand and powerful waves in the distance. It’s raw and beautiful especially in the evening sunset light. I sometimes get asked if it’s possible to shoot a little earlier in the day and I’m always happy to accomodate but if I can I will try and insist on shooting an hour before sunset for that golden magic light. It feels silly to get this excited about light and sunsets but it can bring so much life in to the photos.
